Here are the details about accessible public transport options, car hire and taxi services:

  • Killarney is accessible from most parts of the country by bus and by train. Both the bus and train stations are just a short taxi journey from Randles Hotel
    • Irish Rail’s accessibility information can be found here

  • There are a number of local taxi companies who have accessible vehicles. We recommend booking in advance to ensure availability

Free parking is available on site and a set down area is available close to the front doors.  Please be advised that pedestrian access from the street is not suitable for wheelchair users as the gradient of the driveway is very steep.

ACCESSIBLE BEDROOM OPTIONS

Randles Hotel has two accessible bedroom options, both located on the lower ground floor with a dedicated parking space ten meters from the bedroom doors. 

Accessible Suite

Design-led and generously appointed, our Accessible Suite was built in 2025 and can be found on the lower ground floor of the Hotel with it’s own entrance from outside.  It features:

  • Air conditioning.
  • A separate sitting room with fireplace.
  • A super-king Natural Sleep Company bed.
    • The bed height is 70cm
    • The space underneath the bed (from floor to bed base) is 28cm.
  • A separate bedroom with bunk beds, suitable for children or extra adults
  • Two separate bathrooms
    • The main bathroom has a stand-alone bathtub, walk-in shower, double sinks, a Toto toilet and a TV.
    • A separate fully-accessible bathroom is provided with roll-in shower, accessible toilet with grab rails on both sides, low-level sink and an emergency assistance alarm.
  • A dedicated parking space just ten metres from the door, accessed by a ramp with a gentle gradient.
  • A discreet, state-of-the-art medical-grade ceiling track hoist, providing seamless access to the main bedroom, bathtub, accessible bathroom, and children’s bedroom.
  • Step -free access
  • A minimum door width in excess of 800mm.
  • An emergency assistance alarm beside the bed.

Accessible Signature King room

Our Accessible Signature King room was built in 2025 and is located on the lower ground floor of the Hotel.  It has the below features:

  • A super-king Natural Sleep Company bed.
    • The bed height is 70cm.
    • The space underneath the bed (from floor to bed base) is 28cm.
  • An accessible bathroom with roll-in shower, accessible toilet and a stand-alone shower chair.
  • Step -free access.
  • A minimum door width in excess of 800mm.
  • An internal circulation space in excess of 1500mm x 1500mm.
  • A dedicated parking space just ten metres from the door, accessed by a ramp with a gentle gradient.

Disability awareness or equality training

Disability awareness or equality training is provided for staff.

Assistance available 24 hours

Twenty-four-hour assistance is available to all guests at the Hotel Reception.  Alternatively, you can dial ‘0’ from the phone in your bedroom or contact us on the number provided above.

Emergency evacuation plan for guests with disabilities or access requirements

Personal emergency evacuation plans are available for guests with disabilities.  We suggest contacting us in advance for assistance so that we can plan to your specific needs and have this ready for your arrival.

Free familiarisation visits

Should you wish to view the Hotel to assess its suitability for your needs, free familiarisation visits are available on request. Guests are welcome to arrange a visit ahead of booking or visiting to familiarise themselves or others with the venue at no additional cost.  Please contact us if you wish to arrange a visit.

Facilities for assistance dogs

Randles Hotel is pet friendly and we are especially delighted to welcome assistance dogs.  Please let us know in advance that you are bringing your dog and if there is anything in particular you need us to provide for them so that their stay is as comfortable as yours.

Wheelchair or scooter charging point

We are happy to facilitate wheelchair and scooter charging on request.

Wheelchair-accessible toilet in public areas

A wheelchair accessible toilet is available within the main public areas, just off Reception and with easy access to our Food & Beverage service areas.

This bathroom is equipped with:

  • Step -free access.
  • A manoeuvring space in excess of 1500mm x 1500mm
  • Door with a width in excess of 800mm
  • A transfer space to the left-hand side of the toilet with a drop -down grab rail.
  • A vertical grab rail positioned on the right-hand side of the toilet.
  • An emergency assistance alarm.

Designated accessible parking

Parking is available free of charge with two designated accessible spaces located twenty metres from the front door of the Hotel.  There is a slope with a gentle gradient from the car park to the front doors.

For those using our Accessible Suite or Accessible Signature King room there is a dedicated parking space in Dromhall Hotel’s car park, ten meters from the bedrooms.

Step-free route with firm surface from car park to entrance

The route from our upper car park to Reception is step-free and has a firm surface with a gentle gradient.  Our underground car park is not suitable for those who cannot use steps as there is no lift to access the building from there. The upper car park is accessed by the left-hand driveway from the main road. 

Please be advised that pedestrian access from the street is not suitable for wheelchair users as the gradient of the driveway is very steep.

Step-free entrance to Accessible bedrooms

Both our Accessible Suite and our Accessible Signature King room are located on the lower ground floor of the Hotel. They can be accessed from Reception and public areas by a lift and from their dedicated parking space via a ramp with a gentle gradient.

Hoist

Our Accessible Suite has a ceiling track hoist which runs from the bedroom through to the bath and the accessible bathroom. 

It also runs to the extra bedroom making the room suitable for families with children requiring this facility.  Guests are required to bring their own sling.

Step-free access to public areas

Step-free access is available to all of our public areas including Reception, Wigg’s Bar, Court & Checkers Restaurants and the accessible toilets.  Access from bedrooms to the public areas of the Hotel are via lifts and some ramps with a gentle gradient.

There are two lifts available within the hotel allowing step-free access to most of our bedrooms. 

  • Reception lift:  147x145cm
  • Signature lift:  157x134cm

Wheelchair accessible Food & Beverage outlets

Our Court & Checkers Restaurants and Wigg’s Bars both have step-free access and an offer inclusive dining spaces for breakfast and dinner.  Our Drawing Room also has step-free access and is the ideal place to relax beside the open fire with your favourite drink.  Or why not try the outdoor heated terrace on a fine day?

Table service in our Food & Beverage outlets

Table service is offered as standard in Wigg’s Bar and is also available in the Drawing Room and Terrace.  Our breakfast consists of a cold buffet and hot food is served to your table.  If you require table service for the cold buffet our team are happy to help.

Dietary requirements

We cater for all dietary requirements and most of our dishes are available gluten or dairy free on request.  Should you have any specific requirements we recommend contacting us in advance.

Fridges

A fridge can be added in our Accessible Suite on request.  We also have a fridge behind reception in which guests can store medication and other items as required for all other guests.

Furniture rearranged in bedrooms

To create additional space, furniture can be rearranged on request.

Allergy-friendly bedrooms

Should you require allergy-free bedding please let us know in advance of your arrival and we will be happy to provide this. 

Wheelchair accessible bedroom with an adjoining bedroom

Our Accessible Suite includes a separate bedroom with single bunk beds, suitable for up to two children or extra guests.

Wheelchair accessible bathroom with roll in shower

Both our Accessible Suite and our Accessible Signature King room have wheelchair accessible bathrooms with a level floor and roll-in shower.

Free-standing shower chairs

A free -standing shower chair is available in our Accessible Signature King room and available on request in our Accessible Suite.

Fixed shower seats

There is a fixed shower seat in the bathroom of our Accessible Suite.

Emergency assistance alarms

An emergency assistance alarm is available in the bedroom and bathroom of our Accessible Suite.  There is also an assistance alarm in the public accessible toilet.
