St Patrick’s Day is ready to roll into Killarney, bringing with us a weekend of festive fun for all the family. Organisers of this year’s event are promising an unforgettable weekend of music, food, and fun as Killarney is set to go green and come alive with the St. Patrick’s Festival and AbleFest.
As usual the Killarney St. Patrick’s festival, promises an incredible celebration of Irish culture, with lively street performances, fantastic live music, delicious food, and of course, the much-anticipated St. Patrick’s Day Parade which takes place on March 17th from 2pm.

Thursday 13th March
An Evening of Artistic Performance with West End House School of Arts is set to open the action-packed weekend at the Great Southern Hotel Killarney, with drama, comedy and music in abundance. Tickets €5 and doors open from 6.45pm. A great night’s entertainment is guaranteed from this local group of performers.
Friday 14th March
Sample the Guinness or the wonderful Irish and local whiskeys in many of the establishments in town including Wigg’s Bar at Randles or Kayne’s Bar & Brasserie located right next door to us at our sister property Dromhall Hotel. Check out some Irish traditional music in many of the town centre pubs.
Saturday 15th March
For a quacking start to the day, get down to the Demesne playground at 12 noon for the The Great Duck Dash. Adopt a rubber duck for the race, and you could be the lucky winner! Prizes await the fastest and most fortunate ducks! Ducks are €5 and this dashing event is in support of Down Syndrome Kerry.
Sunday 16th March
On the eve of St. Patrick Day, Ablefest, promises to be a delightful addition to this years programme of events. Billed as an inclusive music and arts festival for people with additional needs, their families and friends. Ablefest celebrates all abilities & encourages inclusivity across all ages. Acclaimed country singer & “Dancing with the Stars” celebrity Jake Carter will headline the event with many other local musicians and entertainers taking part. This exciting event will run from 12 noon to 4pm in the Beech Road carpark.
Monday March 17th
St. Patrick’s Day Festival Parade – The main event starts from Mission Road at 2pm, before winding its way through East Avenue Road, College Street, Plunkett Street, Main Street, New Street and finishing on Beech Road. The spectacle promises to be filled with colour, music, floats, local community groups & lots and lots of fun for all the family. Additional, pre & post parade fun will be keeping you entertained in the festival zone 12 noon to 6pm. Not able to make the parade – live streaming is available – no excuses!
A highlight of the weekend for us is The Randles family sponsored “Plunge for Palliative”, with a star-studded line up of local personalities all sitting nervously on the dunk tank, just waiting for YOU to send them splashing down! This event is in Aid of the Kerry Hospice Foundation. All the icy fun will take place in the Beech road carpark from 4pm so make sure to pop down for splashing good time.
